Our Engagement Story:
Very early morning on this past Easter Sunday, Nick and I were just happy to be spending some time together (after Nicholas and Mom spent a few HOURS "talking"). I could tell he had something on his mind, so I asked him what he was thinking. He was being very cryptic and vague, but I was so tired I didn't catch the fact that he was also nervous and that something big was on his mind. Next thing I know he is telling me about how he was thinking about airplanes. He asked me, "What do all airplanes have?" So I started listing things off like, a pilot, wings, landing gear, passengers, etc. I was confused why he was questioning me about airplanes and asked him, "Is there something in particular I am supposed to be saying?" He then asked me, "What do all airplanes have that show where they have been?" I answered the obvious, "A black box!" Then right at that moment I figured it out (sad I know, but you have to understand I was very tired). Nick then got down on one knee and said, "Well, I've got a black box," as he started to open up a black box in the palm of his hand. I was very surprised and asked, "Are we really doing this now?" I quickly replied with, "Okay, I'm ready!" He then showed me a beautiful ring and asked me if I would marry him (in much more lovely words than I could ever repeat without ruining them). And I said, "Of course, YES!"
I am so very happy that God guided us toward each other. I know it is not by chance or luck. I feel we knew each other before this world was and I hope and pray we will be blessed with eternity together. I love you Nick!
Summer Fun:
We have been staying plenty busy this summer. Many family reunions, parties, camping, fishing trips, and of course making wedding plans.
Family Reunions: I think it has been a new experience for both of us to learn how to make it to both of our families activities and reunions. But it's an new change that I have been enjoying, meeting future family members and learning more about my future husband from them. I feel very welcomed into Hulse family and I love each of you guys very much. Thanks for making me feel like a part of the family!
Parties: Okay, this has definitely been a new experience for me. Parties in my family I would say are pretty rare. After meeting Nick and his family, I have found that parties are not so rare. We have had dinner parties with lots of family. One party that stands out in my mind is the Luau party where we had Hawaiian haystacks for dinner and then we had some very talented girls sing Polynesian songs and dance. I remember the food being delicious (especially Travis's pork and veggie skewers! I'm going to have to learn how to make those) and Nick was soooo handsome.
Camping: Our latest camping adventure was in Kilgore Idaho (It is a tradition for my family to go camping here). We didn't get to stay very long, only Friday night till Saturday afternoon, but we had the most enjoyable fishing trip. We both caught a lot of fish (unlike our first fishing trip, where I caught zero). We had my family dog with us (Miniature Schnouzer named Sissy) who also enjoyed catching fish. It was hot and the mosquitoes were relentless. It started on accident, but we got wet and muddy. Alright, muddy first, starting with me. I accidentally lost my footing next to the creek and fell knee high into mud. So after that we played in the water which felt wonderful in the heat. It was absolutely hilarious getting the dog to wade across the creek. She was scared and she though she didn't want to get wet. It was so much fun as you can see in the pictures.
Wedding Plans: They are coming along! It has been keeping us both very busy. The challenge has been that both of us have indecisive personalities, so needless to say sometimes we struggle with coming to a decision on what we want. However, we have come to make many decisions and we are basically pulling all the last strings together. We are both very anxious for our big day and to start our lives together.
